About Lawson Hill Farm

Lawson Hill Farm is the home of Paula (Lawson) and Barry Thomas.  Paula’s grandfather purchased the farm in 1912.  Her father, Paul, born that same year grew up farming this land.  The original house was torn down and moved shortly after the farm was purchased, but Paul built a weekend home on the original site in the 1960s.

The land is not ideal for farming; the soil is a combination of clay and sandstone (called Brown County stone by locals) spread across rolling hills.  Today we grow prairie grass, wildflowers and trees.  Mostly we just enjoy the beauty.
